The Polls Have It — Andrew Yang Should Be On The Debate Stage https://www.yang2020.com/blog/the-polls-have-it-andrew-yang-should-be-on-the-debate-stage/ Sat, 11 Jan 2020 22:40:21 +0000 https://yang2020.com/?p=566084 Yesterday, CNN and The Des Moines Register, hosts of the next Democratic primary debate on Jan. 14, announced their latest poll, which found that Iowa caucus-goers want Andrew Yang in the debate. This poll — by the debate hosts — proves that voters’ opinions are shifting as they start to pay closer attention to the candidates. There is genuine momentum behind Andrew Yang’s campaign and it would be a mistake for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to keep him from the last debate before the Iowa Caucus.

“If the DNC had only done their due diligence and commissioned polls in the early states, Andrew Yang would certainly be on the debate stage next week. We are not going to allow the DNC to dictate who they wish to see as the nominee and deny the will of the people. The issues that will decide this election, and the future of our country, are too important to ignore for the sake of staged political bickering. The DNC tried to run this same play in 2016 and they paid for it with a loss in the general,” said Campaign Chief Nick Ryan.

With the lack of polls put out after the last debate during a period that also included the holidays, Andrew Yang sent a letter to DNC Chairman Tom Perez proposing a simple solution: the DNC should commission four early state qualifying polls in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina, where all the candidates have invested their time, resources, and staff.

When the DNC refused, the Yang campaign decided to commission two polls with two highly regarded polling organizations (Patinkin Research Strategies and Myers Research) in New Hampshire and Nevada. The unbiased feedback showed that Andrew Yang is on the rise and at 5% in Nevada and New Hampshire.

Myers Research and Patinkin Research Strategies have worked with the Democratic Party for many years, and have conducted polling for party organizations including the DCCC, DSCC, DGA, DLCC, and NDCO. Both pollsters would have been considered by the DNC if they had commissioned any early state polls.

Andrew Yang’s campaign is a grassroots movement that has grown from virtually nothing to having almost 400,000 donors and 1 million contributions. Andrew Yang has managed to create a broad coalition for the future of our country and the Democratic Party needs to keep bringing more people into the fold instead of trying to keep people out of the political process.

Screenwriter and Director James Gunn Endorses Andrew Yang for President https://www.yang2020.com/blog/screenwriter-and-director-james-gunn-endorses-andrew-yang-for-president/ Thu, 09 Jan 2020 22:43:04 +0000 https://yang2020.com/?p=566089 NEW YORK — Screenwriter and director James Gunn announced today that he is endorsing Andrew Yang for president. Gunn is best known for films such as Guardians of the GalaxyDawn of the Dead, and Super.

“Andrew Yang is willing to discuss the tough issues our country is facing right now, instead of running from them, and come up with positive, unique, and excitingly revolutionary new ways to tackle the future,” said Gunn. “In a time when so many politicians are out to serve only themselves or whatever small group makes up their base, I believe Andrew can help us make a better America for all Americans. Hope and Ingenuity 2020!”

Gunn’s endorsement comes as Andrew Yang continues to campaign New Hampshire today, hosting town halls and having conversations with voters to share his vision for rewriting the rules of the 21st century economy so it works for everyone. Gun Control Advocate Cameron Kasky Endorses Andrew Yang https://www.yang2020.com/blog/gun-control-advocate-cameron-kasky-endorses-andrew-yang/ Thu, 09 Jan 2020 22:29:16 +0000 https://yang2020.com/?p=566082 IOWA CITY, IA  — Today, March for Our Lives organizer and political activist Cameron Kasky endorsed Andrew Yang for president. In addition, Kasky will visit the University of Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 11, where he will participate in a Political Activism Town Hall.

“I support Andrew because Andrew is the candidate who makes me feel like I’m investing in future generations and laying out the foundation for long-lasting change. I am very tired of compromising and trying the same nonsense that’s been failing the American people for generations. Yang is offering up solutions that change the game,” said Kasky.

In the wake of the horrific 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas (MSD) High School in Parkland, Fla., Kasky and his classmates co-founded Never Again MSD and organized the March for Our Lives to appeal to lawmakers to enact common-sense gun control measures. Kasky currently attends Columbia University in New York City.

Kasky’s endorsement is the latest example of Andrew Yang’s growing momentum and it comes on the heels of the campaign’s $16.5 million fundraising quarter, the campaign’s highest of the cycle.

DeHaan is known for his roles in films like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Chronicle.

“As the Iowa Caucus nears, I wanted to weigh in. From the first debate, even given little opportunity to speak, every thought Andrew Yang expressed resonated with me. His logic and knowledge are impressive. He’s a smart guy with a kind heart, talking real statistics on complicated issues in a way no one else does or can… It is time to Make America Think Harder. He wants to solve the problems that got us here in a new forward thinking way. I think he can beat Trump and I believe he will be better for America,” said Hatcher.

The endorsements also come on the heels of the campaign’s $16.5 million fundraising quarter, the campaign’s highest quarter haul which solidifies its top-tier status. Other recent prominent endorsers include Steven Yeun, Ken Jeong, and Donald Glover.

Andrew Yang Raises $16.5 Million in Fourth Quarter, Over $1.3 Million in Last 24 Hours Before Deadline https://www.yang2020.com/blog/andrew-yang-raises-16-5-million-in-fourth-quarter-over-1-3-million-in-last-24-hours-before-deadline/ Thu, 02 Jan 2020 22:19:19 +0000 https://yang2020.com/?p=566078 NEW YORK — Andrew Yang raised more than $16.5 million during the fourth quarter of 2019, $6.5 million more than the previous $10 million record set in the third quarter. This quarter’s record amount, over 165 percent of the last quarter, also brings the campaign’s total number of donors to 400,000 and more than 1 million contributions. In addition, December 31 was the campaign’s highest single-day haul with more than $1.3 million, topping the previous record of nearly $750,000 set on November 30.

“At every turn in this race, Andrew Yang continues to exceed expectations whether it’s in terms of grassroots fundraising, making the debates, early state polling, or the ability to draw big crowds,” said Campaign Chief Nick Ryan. “What we have achieved together to date through the humanity first values of this campaign, now sets us up to compete through the early-state primaries, Super Tuesday, and beyond.”

Following the DNC’s announcement that they are refusing to commission early state qualifying polls in time for the next debate, the campaign saw a massive uptick in contributions, including from over 10,000 first-time donors, propelling the campaign to our largest single-day fundraising record of more than $1.3 million.

From December 23 until the end of the year, when the campaign set an initial goal of $3 million, the campaign received over 97,000 contributions from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the three military zip codes, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Northern Marianas, and the Virgin Islands. On deadline day, the goal was raised to $3.5 million, and subsequently $4 million, when donations continued pouring in, far exceeding the initial goal. In the final 48 hours until the deadline, the campaign added more than 10,000 new donors.

The $16.5 million haul will allow the campaign to devote resources toward TV and digital ads, on-the-ground staff, and campaign infrastructure in the early primary states where Andrew Yang is outperforming expectations.

Andrew Yang’s grassroots campaign is funded by small dollar donors, with over 98% of the donations made online being under $200. Over 75% of the total donated is from this group, showing the broad base of Andrew Yang’s support. The average donation to the campaign is $30.

Andrew Yang Unveils Series of New Policies to Rewrite the Rules of Our Fundamentally Anti-Woman Economy https://www.yang2020.com/blog/andrew-yang-unveils-series-of-new-policies-to-rewrite-the-rules-of-our-fundamentally-anti-woman-economy/ Sat, 28 Dec 2019 22:02:40 +0000 https://yang2020.com/?p=566072 To rewrite the rules of the 21st century economy to work fairly for everyone, Andrew Yang is releasing policies to elevate women to leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, protect a woman’s right to choose, and require safe and fair working conditions for pregnant women.

NEW YORK — Today, Andrew Yang released two new major policies: one focused on the promotion of women to leadership roles in the public and private sectors and a second aimed at protecting and expanding a woman’s right to choose. To make the 21st century economy work equally for all, Andrew Yang is prioritizing equal representation among leadership roles and women’s rights to bodily autonomy.

Andrew Yang has been a long-time champion of elevating women to leadership roles throughout his career, and he will continue to do so as president of the United States. Elevating women to leadership roles within the private sector and government is both prudent and ethical. Studies have shown that organizations with more women in leadership roles are more efficient. More importantly, we should ensure enough women hold leadership positions in our organizations because it’s simply the right thing to do.

Andrew Yang is committed to elevating women to leadership roles in the military and in his administration—including cabinet-level positions. His policy focusing on women in leadership incorporates a commitment to appoint women to the federal bench, requires women to be included on corporate boards, and highlights his gender-neutral paid family leave federal mandate.

Andrew Yang believes a woman’s right to choose is fundamental. His new policy highlights this as the only way to ensure women are able to fully and fairly participate in today’s economy, and it also asserts that women and medical professionals are the only ones who should be trusted to make this decision. Restricting access to abortion bars professionals from providing these crucial services and sets a dangerous precedent for our society as a whole.

In the policy, he highlights his commitment to work with Congress to codify Roe v. Wade into law, appoint judges who support a woman’s right to choose, repeal the Hyde Amendment, and increase funding for Planned Parenthood, among other actions.

In addition to policies surrounding women in leadership roles and a woman’s right to choose, Andrew Yang released a plan to ensure fair working conditions for pregnant women so that women can continue to advance their careers during and after a pregnancy.

Too often pregnant workers face both discrimination and inadequate support in the workplace. If the rules of our 21st century economy are to work for everyone, pregnant workers must be treated fairly in the workplace and be given reasonable accommodations for their changing physical abilities.

Andrew Yang will advocate for legislation like the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act to guarantee pregnant workers reasonable accommodations. He will lobby the states to pass their own anti-discrimination laws to protect pregnant workers until a federal mandate can be passed, and he will implement a comprehensive federal Paid Family Leave plan that provides all families—regardless of makeup—the necessary time to heal and bond with their child.

Women’s rights are human rights, and elevating more women to leadership positions and expanding women’s right to choose will ensure we are equipped to navigate the dramatic economic and technological shifts ahead of us. Taking these steps will make us a more efficient and more equitable society.

Actor Steven Yeun Endorses Andrew Yang for President https://www.yang2020.com/blog/actor-steven-yeun-endorses-andrew-yang-for-president/ Thu, 26 Dec 2019 21:58:25 +0000 https://yang2020.com/?p=566069 Today, actor Steven Yeun endorsed Andrew Yang for president. Best known for his starring roles in The Walking Dead and Burning, Yeun and his family immigrated from South Korea to the United States when he was young, where he was raised in Troy, Michigan and went to school at Kalamazoo College.

“After meeting and speaking with Andrew Yang several times, I didn’t see a traditional politician. I saw a real human being who is authentic and genuinely cares deeply about everyday people and our country. I think he is rising to the challenge of a new world and he’s uniquely thinking about the future and the life we will leave for our children and further generations,” said Steven Yeun.

“We’re thrilled and honored to have Steven become a part of the constantly growing Yang Gang. His story is a true testament to the American Dream that immigrants from around the world come to this country to pursue. Beyond his personal success as an actor, it’s his humility and kindness toward others that really align with the Humanity First values of our campaign, the same values that continue to power the momentum of our campaign as we head into 2020. Evelyn and I also love watching The Walking Dead, so Steven’s support is exciting in many ways,” said Andrew Yang.

The high-profile endorsement today follows Andrew Yang’s commanding debate performance at the sixth Democratic primary debate in Los Angeles. In the day after the debate, the campaign raised $750,000 from 20,000 donations, a third of which came from new donors. The impressive haul adds to the over 350,000 grassroots donors to the Yang campaign, the vast majority of whom are small-dollar donors.

Donations Surge After Andrew Yang’s Commanding Debate Performance https://www.yang2020.com/blog/donations-surge-after-andrew-yangs-commanding-debate-performance/ Fri, 20 Dec 2019 21:53:43 +0000 https://yang2020.com/?p=566066 NEW YORK — Following Andrew Yang’s commanding debate performance last night, the campaign raised $750,000 from 20,000 donations, a third of which came from new donors. The impressive haul adds to the over 350,000 grassroots donors to the Yang campaign, the vast majority of whom are small-dollar donors.

“The most important thing we can do over the coming weeks is make sure that Iowans and New Hampshirites are hearing Andrew’s message. It’s exciting that voters are seeing much more of Andrew in-person and on TV, but there’s still more to be done — we’ve found that when voters truly listen to what Andrew has to say, they very quickly consider him as one of their top choices. His message, in conjunction with our strong ground-game, spell out tremendous upside for this campaign come February,” said Campaign Chief Nick Ryan.

Today’s fundraising feat comes on the heels of recent fundraising accomplishments, including the campaign’s single largest 24-hour fundraising haul on November 30, when it raised nearly $750,000 online from more than 18,000 contributions.

Last week, the campaign raised $2 million from 65,000 contributions over 10 days while Andrew Yang met with nearly 1,600 Iowans during his first bus tour through the state.
